Purpose
Developing some of the basic competencies necessary for a successful transition to a management position.
Learning Objectives
- Identify the challenges involved in transitioning to a management position.
- Identify issues to be managed immediately as part of your own role transition and target relevant actions to be taken quickly.
- Adapt your leadership style to your new reality and understand the power of interpersonal relationships for a successful transition.
- Identify and be able to use the various resources available around you to continue your development as a leader.

Virtual : 2 blocs of 3 hours or In presence : 1 day
Content – 6 hours in 2 non-consecutive blocks
Part I (3 hours each including a 20-minute break)
Introduction, icebreaker and background
A successful transition:
- Role of a leader: What should I expect?
- Strengths of a good manager
- Place myself in my new management environment
- Expectations: those of employees, my own expectations of them
Areas of turbulence
- Pitfalls that lie ahead of me
- Losses due to the transition to the new role
- Case study: From the best professional… to the worst boss!
- Strategies for effectively managing rough patches
Prerequisite for Part II
- Logbook: challenges and achievements
- Reading of an inspirational article
Part II (3 hours each including a 20-minute break)
Review of what was learned
- Review the intersessional work: challenges and achievements
- Transition from ME to WE

- Leave room for employees to stimulate engagement
